Brett Favre Shipped to Jets

The end of the Brett Favre Watch?

“At least I already have green sneakers”

4 things are now certain…

1) Bill is currently reviewing dozens of Brett Favre tapes…as I am typing this…at 2am
2) Chad will never start another game in the NFL
3) Mangina’s job is secure for at least another year
4) The Jets will be over .500

GREEN BAY, Wis. (AP) — The Green Bay Packers have reached an agreement to trade quarterback Brett Favre to the New York Jets, the team announced late Wednesday night. Terms of the trade weren’t immediately available.

The Packers had been talking with the Jets and Tampa Bay Buccaneers since deciding earlier this week that the team and the three-time MVP couldn’t co-exist. The Packers decided to move forward with Aaron Rodgers as their starter after Favre announced his retirement in March.

“Brett has had a long and storied career in Green Bay, and the Packers owe him a tremendous debt of gratitude for everything he accomplished on the field and for the impact he made in the state,” Green Bay officials said in a statement.

“It is with some sadness that we make this announcement, but also with the desire for certainty that will allow us to move the team and organization forward in the most positive way possible.”

Jets chairman and CEO Woody Johnson issued a statement early Thursday.

“I am looking forward to seeing Brett Favre in a New York Jets uniform,” Johnson said. “He represents a significant addition to this franchise, and reflects our commitment to putting the best possible product on the field. Mike Tannenbaum and his football administration staff did a great job of navigating this complex process. I am excited about welcoming Brett, Deanna and their family to the Jets organization.”

All For Nothing

Brett Favre owes Schultz County at least 10,000 ears of corn

Father: There will be no Christmas this year kids.

Kids: Awww, why is that Dad!

Father: We decided to sacrafice 55% of our crop in order to honor Brett Favre and his 1000% sealed deal assured retirement.  Whatever is left will have to go to bills and other boring stuff.

Kids: Oh that’s O.K. Dad.  After all…retirements only come once in a lifetime!

Favre = Your Girlfriends Sister

And Youre the Minnesota Vikings

You know you shouldn’t…but

ESPN

MINNEAPOLIS — The Minnesota Vikings have declined to comment on allegations by the Green Bay Packers that they made inappropriate contact with quarterback Brett Favre.
Vikings spokesman Bob Hagan issued a two-sentence statement on Thursday that said the Vikings “are not commenting on the issue. These types of matters are handled by the league.”
The Packers filed a tampering charge with the league, contending Favre, who has asked the Packers for his release, has been talking with Vikings offensive coordinator Darrell Bevell. The two became friends when Bevell was an assistant coach with the Packers.
A source in Green Bay told ESPN.com’s John Clayton the Packers believe they have a strong case against the Vikings. First, they believe the Vikings were willing to talk to Favre in order to cause chaos within the Packers family during the summer.
Another source suggested Favre might have had a conversation with Vikings coach Brad Childress.
NFL spokesman Greg Aiello said Wednesday the league had no comment. The Vikings open the season in Green Bay.
Childress has said in recent days that the Vikings are content with Tarvaris Jackson as their starting quarterback.
On June 20, Favre, who retired on March 3, called Packers coach Mike McCarthy and told him he had the “itch” to return to the NFL. On Saturday, Packers general manager Ted Thompson said Favre could return to active status on the Packers if he comes out of retirement, but his role would not be determined. During Favre’s retirement, Aaron Rodgers has been considered Favre’s successor.
If the Packers can prove the Vikings tampered with Favre, they could be subject to fines or a possible loss of a draft choice.

And like the Vikings…everything it

Flashback

Barry Sanders knows all too well

As Barry Sanders knows this Favre situation could get ugly…quick.

There is no loyalty in professional sports. The Lions not only refused to trade Barry…they sued him for monies owed. Though the situation here is a little bit different it is similar in that Barry Sanders wanted to come out of retirement at one point but the Detroit Lions refused to release him. Hopefully this soap opera continues through the summer and gives us something to keep our eyes on while the Red Sox kick ass into October and the Pats kick off in August.

Texting

Packers GM to Favre - I'm on vaca, can't get back to ya right now bro

I’d like to say I told you so right now, but I can’t. We here at The Big Choke (we as in me, and one guy whose never here) have said time and time again that Brett Favre would most likely be back to play another year in a Green Bay Packers uniform.

We are not adjusting our stance. Brett Favre might be back but whether it’s in a Green Bay Packers uniform is now in doubt. FAVRE GOT DISSED SON!

ESPN has cited 3 seperate situations in which Brett Favre has not been treated like an MVP

WTMJ-TV in Milwaukee reported Monday that Favre sent a text message to Packers GM Ted Thompson on Saturday — and that Thompson’s reply was that he is on vacation and the two men will have to talk later.

And Sports Illustrated reported on its Web site Monday that Thompson has ignored phone calls from Favre’s agent, James “Bus” Cook, while sending an intermediary to Mississippi to talk to Favre. According to that report, Cook is expected to request that Favre be taken off the NFL’s reserve/retired list within the next 10 days.

Last week, ESPN’s Chris Mortensen reported Favre had communicated his potential desire to return to coach Mike McCarthy, but that talks had not advanced to a substantive stage, according to a Packers source.

So Brett has been dissed a total of 3 times now. His agents calls to the GM have gone unanswered, his text messages were dismissed by the GM, and the head coach has no comment or answer for Favre. Is this anyway to treat that drunk guy who just doesn’t know when to go home?

Ted Thompson is one cold motherfucker

Somewhere…Aaron Rogers weeps

I can’t tell you with this means, but it can’t be good. The last time I touched upon Brett Favre and his possible come back we pegged Aaron Rogers as “miserable”. But now he has to be crying.  Yesterday the new Madden 09 cover was revealed and Brett Favre for one reason or another is on it.

This either pisses Aaron Rogers off or makes him extremely happy.  If the Madden Curse holds up he might have a chance to play next season after all.

Brett Favre Watch Continues until the inevitable press conference.
